Adding a Peer 👥
Ok, shit is getting real. You're now ready to connect to a peer and open a channel with at least 25k (Check warning below) Sats of Outbound Liquidity. Meaning, you will be able to send up to 25k Sats (Minus whatever the network channel opening fees were) on Lightning. We'll get into receiving payments later.
Ok, shit is getting real. You're now ready to connect to a peer and open a channel with at least 25k (Check warning below) Sats of Outbound Liquidity. Meaning, you will be able to send up to 25k Sats (Minus whatever the network channel opening fees were) on Lightning. We'll get into receiving payments later.
- In the left menu of RTL, go to: Lightning > Peers/Channels > then the Peers tab under Connections. Don't get all excited and click on Channels. We need to add the peer first. From that tab, click Add Peer.
- Pull the Onion (TOR) address, found above the QR code (Not the Public Key, but the longer string just under that)
- Enter and hit the next Add Peer button.
- If the peer information is correct, you'll then be asked to open an optional channel. Let's do it! Type in 25,000 Sats (or hopefully more!) and hit the Open Channel button.
- If successful, the window will close and you'll see a little message at the bottom of your screen.
Congratulations, you have opened your first Lightning channel! Let's move on.
