If one or multiple gas burners won't light, it most likely relates to grime build-up within the burner head or around the ignitor.

Follow these steps to try and resolve your issue.

Check alignment of the Burner Cap

For your cooktop to function properly, the burner heads and caps must be properly positioned. Check that the correct cap is on the correct head and that the correct head is on the correct burner. Check that they are flat and level as well. Your cooktop may ignite slowly, unevenly, or not at all if the head or cap is even slightly off-centre or tilted.

Clean the ignitor

With the burner head removed from the cooktop, you will see a small white ignitor with a silver head protruding next to the burner housing. Using a toothbrush and a bleach free cleaner (such as vinegar or water + baking soda), clean around the ignitor base and the ignitor itself to remove all grime build up. Use paper towel to dry the ignitor carefully.

Clean and Dry the Burner

Clean the burner head and cap, removing any food or gunk. Use a toothpick, sewing needle, or compressed air to clean any remaining debris from the burner holes. Once completely dried reinstall the burner, cover, and grill, and try lighting the burner again.

With the burner heads removed, give the burner housing (recessed into the cooktop itself) a good clean and dry also. A recent boil-over can leave residual water within the burner head housing, which can effect its ability to light.
