Below are possible reasons for an employee to have multiple time sheets on the same day :

The employee enters the wrong sequence on the punch

This means the employee does not follow the logical order of entry and exit when he or she punches.

Example 1 : The employee only works one job during the day.

An employee has a shift from 9 am - 5 pm, with dinner at 12:00 - 13:00, and a break at 10:00 and 15:00.

The correct punching sequence would be as follows:

- Shift start: 09:00 am

- Break start: 10:00 am

- Break end: 10:15 am

- Meal start: 12:00 pm

- Meal end: 01:00 pm

- Break start: 03:00 pm

- Break end: 03:15 pm

- Shift end: 05:00 pm

If an employee skips one of these steps, the sequence is deemed ‘invalid’. The punch will allow the employee to continue with the wrong sequence, but will notify the employee and tell him or her what the previous action was.
